That's the thing, there's absolutely no publisher on the planet that wants to release something they know is going to be negatively received. As middling as that game's reviews were, at least they weren't outright negative. ![]() If WB Games knew it was going to be that bad it would have just been cancelled, we know because that's exactly how they handled Gotham Knights. I think it's somewhat unfair to assume they've given up on the last gen release. The headlines will probably be more moderate like "Hogwarts Legacy does not live up on PS4" instead of "The long awaited Hogwarts Legacy is an unfinished and not playable disappointment. I have trust in them that the PS5/XSX will be pretty polished and smooth but developing such a game on old gen hardware from 2013 might have been a headache for the dev team since that decision was made.īut they probably want to avoid a similar situation like what happened with Cyberpunk 2077, where the release was overshadowed by the negative (and well deserved) backlash for the state of the game at release, especially the last gen versions which were simply not playable.īy delaying the last gen versions they can release the game in it's best versions peacefully, earn good critics and reviews, manifest a similar good reputation like CD Project Red after the release of Witcher 3 and then have the bad release for the last gen versions. ![]() ![]() My assumption is that they internally know that the last gen and Switch versions are a laggy and bug-infested shitshow, which will run at 23-25 fps in best cases. ![]()
